Welcome back!

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter holidays. We have now reached our final term. How has this year gone so quickly?

Unfortunately in the holidays, I’ve had an hernia operation and will be missing some time off school. However, I will be in regular contact with Mrs Mee and the supply teacher. I will be back as soon as possible. Mrs Prior (who has had the class before) will be taking the class.

Key information:

  • PE is on Thursday and Friday so the children will require PE kit on these days.

  • Spellings will begin this week and the first test will be on Friday

  • We will be focusing on X tables heavily this half term in preparation for the multiplication check.

  • Letters about Victorian Day will be handed out this week.

As always, if you have any concerns or queries then please email me. Thank you again for your continued support.

Week 4:

Another very busy week in Class 4! We have been writing our explanation texts about how chocolate is made. The children are doing an excellent job and they are on their way to created some fantastic pieces of writing. This week we have also started our Mayan pots. The children used a coil pot technique to create their own pot and this week they will paint the pots and carve a Mayan design into the clay.

We also had a lovely visit from Reverend Li this week. She helped us understand how Christians celebrate the Holy Week. The children were brilliant and had lots of questions. A big thank you to Reverend Li for joining us. Next week, is assessment week so the children will be under going assessments in English, Maths and Science. Our times table of the week is 6!

Thank you for your continued support.

Week 2:

Another great week in Class 4. In Literacy, we have finished learning about our model text and we are moving on to creating our shared class text. We have also been learning all about expanded noun phrases. This week we continued our fractions unit. All the children are working really hard in this topic. We have been focusing on improper and mixed fractions. Finally this week, we  have started our new PE unit about basketball and in French we started to learn how to say numbers up to 20. Well done to Jack and Alfie Maddever for getting certificates this week!

Don't forget that next week it is St Pirans Day on Tuesday and World Book Day on Thursday. Our times table of the week is 8.

Thank you for your continued support.

Welcome back!

We have had a fantastic first week back in Class 4. This week, we have been learning about all our new topics, including our new geography topic, ‘John O Groats’ to ‘Lands End’. The children are very excited to learn about the extraordinary journey. We also started our new

Literacy topic which is about how to write and explanation text. For this unit we will be writing about how chocolate is made. Finally, at the end of the week, the children took part in a Bikeability session. They all seemed to really enjoy it. All those who took part will receive a badge and a certificate.

Thanks for your continued support.

Welcome back!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and new year! We will be starting our new topic which is the Mayans. We will be learning about the origins of chocolate which I know the children will enjoy.

Swimming starts on the first Thursday back (11th January) so we require the children to have swimming kit (a swim costume and a towel in a bag) on this day. We need all consent forms back straight away. PE will continue to be on a Wednesday and Friday so the children will require kit on these days. This term there will continue to be no set homework. Children are required to practice their spellings, timetables and read each evening. Spelling test will also be on a Friday.
