We had lots of fun exploring Hannafore beach. We collected shells, looked at different creatures in the rockpools and picked up litter.

Science
This half term, we have been learning about plants and growth. We have learnt about hydroponics-growing seeds and plants in water without soil.
Some Year 2 children reading one of their Read, Write, Inc books beautifully. We hope that you enjoy listening to them. The play that they are reading is The Bump A Lump.

Numeracy
This week we have been learning about measurement. We used cubes to measure different objects around the classroom and compared the lengths using mathematical vocabulary( shorter than, longer than, shortest, longest, tallest, taller than).

Literacy
Over the past few weeks, we have been learning about recounts. First, we learnt a new text called Maisie's Dragon. Next, we created a class version of the text. Then finally, we wrote our own recount.

Art
This week we have been busy making our own clay tiles. First, we rolled and cut the clay to make the tile. Then we used tools to create a symmetrical pattern.

To welcome back everyone in class 2 we created a class display. We used colouring pencils to design different patterns for the letters and a template to draw ourselves.

World Book Day
Today we celebrated World Book Day by dressing up and creating some pictures of our favourite book characters using potatoes.

This week we have been learning about Edward Lear and listening to some of his limericks. We then had a go at writing our own limericks.

In PSHE we created friendship flowers to show how we can be a good friend and what qualities a good friend possesses.

Literacy -The Owl and the Pussycat
This term we learnt the traditional poem 'The Owl and the Pussycat.' To help us recite the poem we created actions and a map (using pictures) for each verse. We then had a go at writing our own versions.

Class 2 had a lovely time making their bonfire collages. They learnt some collage skills and then applied them to create these pictures.

On 11th November Class 2 visited the war memorial in Menheniot to lay a poppy posy from the school, in memory of all those who died in the war.

As part of our Science, we have been looking at the best structures for making a bridge. Here we are testing some of the ideas out.

We have been working on place value, addition and subtraction this half term. Our challenge here was to change the numbers and signs around to show our understanding of inverse operation. We all did really well and after we had worked with apparatus and then visually, we recorded the sums in our books.

Class 2 participated in the Harvest Trail around St Lalluwy's Church. They had great fun spotting the Harvest displays. They combined the trail with a walk around the village as part of their mapping topic in Geography. When they returned to school, the children drew a map of their route and finally they added a key.
