Our Vision and Mission Statement

To be a leading village primary school where every individual is

welcomed,
respected, motivated and enabled to develop their diverse abilities,

 

within a happy, stimulating and challenging environment.

Our Aims

 

1. To promote effective learning for all.

 

Every pupil deserves an opportunity to achieve his/her best. The highest quality of teaching is essential to achieve effective learning.

Examples:

  • Presenting tasks to the pupils at the appropriate level;
  • Providing a variety of teaching methods, recognising that children learn in different ways;
  • Sharing expertise and good practice across the school, using specialist teaching where appropriate;
  • Valuing the partnership between all those involved in education;
  • Giving everyone the opportunity to develop professionally and update their knowledge and skills.

   

2. To provide quality interesting, relevant and up to date Schemes of Work to implement the curriculum.

 

Pupils should acquire the appropriate knowledge and develop the relevant skills to equip them for the present and the future.

Examples:

  • Developing Schemes of Work based on Curriculum 2000 and the EYFS  and to implement these;
  • Regularly evaluating the curriculum and making changes where appropriate;
  • To promote creativity through the curriculum.

 

3. To develop well-balanced individuals who have an awareness and a sensitivity towards others.

 

Children should have a sense of self-respect, self confidence, independence and self-discipline. They should be equipped with the skills and values to meet and enjoy the challenges, changes and opportunities of life.

Examples:

  • Creating opportunities for assuming responsibility;
  • Helping pupils to develop organisational skills;
  • Implementing a relevant PSHE curriculum;
  • Encouraging decision making and debate informally and formally through a forum such as the school council.

 

4. To provide a caring and secure environment.

 

Members of our school community work more effectively when they are happy and know that they are valued.

Examples:

  • Expecting high standards of conduct and actively discouraging all anti-social behaviour;
  • Expecting all to show sensitivity and consideration towards others;
  • Promoting links between classes across the school;
  • Conforming to agreed codes of conduct by staff and pupils.

 

5. To ensure that all feel valued as part of the school community.

 

Members of the school community should feel a strong sense of identity  and belonging to the school  They should be able to contribute positively to the wider community and to work as part of a team.

Examples:

  • Celebrating achievements;
  • Representing the school in the local community;
  • Promoting the school in a positive and effective way;
  • Working closely with local community groups and the School Association.

 

6. To encourage a questioning and searching attitude about the self, to cultivate openness of mind,
    to develop a sense of exploration and to encourage a quest for truth and meaning.

 

Spiritual development is concerned with how an individual acquires beliefs and values, especially of questions about religion and whether life has a purpose and the basis for personal and social behaviour.

Examples:

  • Giving pupils the opportunity to express themselves creatively;
  • Creating an atmosphere within school which enables pupils to develop self awareness, through opportunities such as collective worship and circle time;
  • To develop environmental awareness.
