Vacancy - KS1 Teaching Assistant – Part-time (temporary) From September 2025
The person appointed will be based in Year R. This position is for 10 hours per week, working from 1pm to 3pm, Monday to Friday term time only. There may an opportunity to work from 12 as a lunchtime supervisor.
In addition to general classroom support, the successful candidate will be expected to work specifically with a child who has a medical ECHP. They will be required to undertake specialised training in order to administer a feeding tube. They will also be required to undertake training to prepare fluids for the child.
The post will be paid at an hourly rate of £12.60. The duties will be in accordance with the job description which is attached.

Main purpose of the job To assist in the support of 1 child with Medical Needs.
To assist in the teaching and learning within KS1.
Duties and responsibilities:
Supporting the pupil
- To develop a knowledge and understanding of the specific needs (including medical needs) of the child to be supported.
- To establish a supportive relationship with the child concerned.
- To provide daily personal care which will include assistance with tube feeding / drinking, water flushing, preparation of food and some toileting.
- To accompany the child at playtimes and lunchtimes to monitor physical wellbeing.
- To aid the child to learn as effectively as possible.
Supporting the Teacher
- To assist, with the class teacher (and other professionals as appropriate), in the development of suitable support.
- To contribute to the maintenance of the child’s progress and other records.
- To provide regular feedback about the child to the teacher.
- To support small groups of children in their learning as directed by the class teacher.
Supporting the school
- Where appropriate, to develop a relationship to foster links between home and school.
- To liaise, advise and consult with other members of the team supporting the child, when asked to do so.
- To attend relevant training.
- To be aware of school procedures.
- To be aware of confidential issues and to keep confidences appropriately.
